Astra is a spunky little puppy with the looks to match her big personality!
At less than 5 months old, she took Best in Sweeps with an entry of 49 dogs, ages 4-18 months! She is the friendliest dachshund I have ever met, and charms absolutely everyone she meets.
At just over 8 months, Astra finished her Canadian Championship. At 11 months, she had 12 Grand Championship points out of the 20 required, with 4 multi-point wins ("majors").
At Astra's first weekend out after turning a year old (the minimum age to obtain a Grand Championship), she got her second group placement and more importantly, finished her Grand Championship (at just 14 months)! She is now taking it easy on the show side, focusing on versatility.​
At 17 months, Astra got her Novice Sprinter title, rounding out her Versatility Novice - earned by accumulating at least base-level titles in 3 different categories. Our goal by the end of the year is to get her Versatility Excellent title.
At the FDCC (Federation of Dachshund Clubs of Canada) National Specialty in 2024, Astra was awarded the Award of Merit for miniature long-haired dachshunds, qualifying her for Crufts 2025! We do not know if we will be able to make it, but it is such an honour to qualify.
On the sports side of things, we are now working on her RATO and getting her ready for Earthdog this summer. We also hope to get her CGN and further trick dog titles this year, and start training for Rally!
